Nocturne (1946)

NOCTURNE (RKO) George Raft, Lynn Bari, Mabel Paige. A police detective goes rogue to solve the murder of a philandering composer.

There’s not much to recommend here. The plot is dull and doesn’t hook up well, and the characters are cardboard cut-outs, but the artificiality of the whole thing suits Raft’s stiff personality so at least that’s a match. Bari, as always, is interesting and attractive.

Scale of 10: I give it 2.
